The life of a plastic mold refers to the durability of the mold that can normally produce qualified products. We generally refer to the number of work cycles completed by the mold or the number of parts produced.
During the normal use of the mold, its parts will fail due to wear or damage for one or other reasons. If the wear or damage is severe and the injection molding can no longer be repaired, the mold should be scrapped. If the parts of the mold are interchangeable, and the parts can be replaced after failure, the life of the mold will theoretically be unlimited, but after the mold is used for a long time, the surface of the parts will become more and more aging. The probability of failure is greatly increased, and the repair cost will increase accordingly. At the same time, the mold will directly affect the production of parts because of frequent repairs. Therefore, when the repaired mold reaches a certain level of unreasonable life, it should also be considered for scrapping.
The total number of work cycles or the number of parts produced before the mold is scrapped is called the total life of the mold. In addition, the life of the mold after multiple repairs should also be considered.
Before our customers design and manufacture various plastic molds, as users, we will put forward specific requirements on the service life of the mold. This requirement is collectively referred to as the expected life of the mold. In order to determine the expected life of the mold, two factors should be considered:
One is to consider the possibility technically;
The second is economic rationality.
When the parts are produced in small batches or a certain number of samples are issued, the life of the mold only needs to meet the basic quantity requirements during the production of the parts. At this time, the mold should be reduced as much as possible under the premise of ensuring the normal life of the mold. The cost of development, when the parts need to be produced in large quantities, that is, a high mold cost is required, and the service life and use efficiency of the mold should be improved as much as possible.
